CARE FOR TH E SELF AWARE - Treatment For Practitioners

One aspect of my job that I take great pleasure in, is working with fellow practitioners. During my career I have worked and trained in this supportive role in different ways. I have taught and mentored student osteopaths in the art of self awareness and the osteopathic treatment and management of shock and trauma. I have also been undergoing training in shamanic practices with a group of fellow ‘medicine woman’ therapists, learning new ways of how to connect to ones self, to others and to the environment as well doing my regular work, treating people hands on and listening to their stories.

Treatment for therapists

Sometimes as empathetic, caring practitioners and therapists we can be affected by a treatment session and almost feel as if we carry the clients problem with us. This can be quite draining in the long term.

During a treatment session I work with the practitioner to observe their own pattern of holding tension. This is done by case history, osteopathic observation and palpation. In addition to hands on osteopathic treatment, we also work through self care, self awerness, grounding and boundary tools that will assist and support the practitioner in doing their work.

This is the guidance that I wish that I had been given when I started out! So if you are a fellow osteopath or therapist and this resonates with you please do get in touch.
